GHS is the Globally Harmonised System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals created by the United Nations and used internationally. The seventh revised edition, GHS 7 is the official hazard classification system adopted by the New Zealand EPA.
As a result of EPA NZ GHS 7 changes in hazard classifications of some of the raw materials used in our products, we will be updating our Safety Data Sheets and packaging labels accordingly.
Products containing the widely used carbon black pigment (CAS No. 1333-86-4) will now include the warning statement “Suspected of causing cancer,” in line with the EPA NZ GHS 7 re-classification of the substance to Carcinogenicity – Category 2. Despite its use in low concentrations across our products, this update will apply to most black, dark coloured and some lighter coloured products across all technology ranges. Please refer to new Safety Data Sheets for the most up-to-date safety precautions that should be implemented during product application.
New Safety Data Sheets have been created for all products as a result of this change and can be accessed using the list of core range stocked colours to identify the correct new Safety Data Sheet, available at www.duluxpowders.co.nz/datasheets-safety-data-sheets.
